BOK-SILLee is a character created by Key in 2022 for his second studio album, Gasoline. Since his debut, BOK-SILLee has appeared in a variety of merchandise designs and accompanied Key on several adventures.

Conception[]

BOK-SILLee was inspired by the creatures that appear in old horror movies, such as the film Gremlins. Key said in an interview with Billboard: "Like little goblins from kids’ movies, I’ve always wanted to express those kind of cute, little dolls in my album. I always wanted one of my own."[1]

History[]

BOK-SILLee first appeared in the teaser photos for Key's second studio album, Gasoline. He was pictured chained to a board in a laboratory, seemingly an experiment by a mad scientist. He was then broken out of captivity by Key. BOK-SILLee appeared again during the promotions for SHINee's eighth studio album, HARD. A poster on the promotional website "freaktheshine.com" revealed that BOK-SILLee was going on a summer vacation on June 26, the same day as the album's release. BOK-SILLee asked fans to take good care of Key.[2]

Teaser pictures for Key's second mini album, Good & Great, showed Key escaping from an office with BOK-SILLee in his arms. BOK-SILLee appeared in the music video for "Good & Great" as a character on Key's computer screen. BOK-SILLee invited Key to find him to fix a bug. He was also shown as an employee of the month at Key's office. Key went looking for BOK-SILLee in a grassy meadow and became part of a computer game. BOK-SILLee appeared again in the exhibition Mr. Freak's Lab : Sweet Escape. A researcher named Mr. Freak witnessed BOK-SILLee being kidnapped to be cloned and used as an ingredient to sweeten desserts. Mr. Freak recruited new interns as a pretext to find someone to help him rescue BOK-SILLee.[3]

Appearance[]

BOK-SILLee is a creature covered in thick fur. He has a pink head and torso, purple arms and blue legs. His only visible facial features are his eyes.
