EMI Records is a Japanese record label that is a subsidiary of Universal Music Japan. Originally named EMI Music Japan, SHINee signed with them for Japanese promotions in 2010, which they announced at their concert SHINee WORLD on December 26, 2010.[1] They made their Japanese debut under EMI on June 22, 2011, with the single "Replay -Kimi wa Boku no Everything-".[2] Universal Music Group acquired EMI on October 1, 2012, and it was absorbed into Universal Music Japan on April 1, 2013.[3] It continued as a sublabel of UMJ and was renamed EMI Records Japan.[4] In February 2014, it was renamed again to EMI Records.
