Choi Min-ho (최민호), better known by the mononym Minho (민호), is a South Korean rapper, singer, actor, lyricist, dancer, MC and model. He is a member of the Korean idol group SHINee.
Biography[]
Minho was born on December 9, 1991, in Incheon, South Korea. He has an older brother his name is Choi Minseok ( Born 1989 )His father is the football coach Choi Yun-kyum. Minho was discovered at the "2006 S.M. Casting System". Before debuting with SHINee, Minho modeled for Ha Sang Baek's "Seoul Collection F/W 08-09" in March. He debuted as a member of SHINee on May 25, 2008, and began writing lyrics with their first studio album, The SHINee World. He made a cameo in Girls' Generation's music video "Gee" and appeared in the variety show Let's Go! Dream Team.
In 2010, Minho began his acting career with an appearance in the drama special Pianist. He followed this with roles in the television shows Salamander Guru and The Shadows, Medical Top Team, ''Because It's The First Time, Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, Somehow 18 and The Most Beautiful Goodbye. He also appeared in the films Canola, Derailed, The Princess and the Matchmaker, Illang: The Wolf Brigade and The Battle of Jangsari.
In February 2019, Minho went on an international solo fan meeting tour, Best CHOI's MINHO, which was held in Japan, Korea, Thailand and Taiwan. On March 28, 2019, Minho released his first solo Station song entitled "I'm Home", just before his encore solo fan meeting. On April 15, 2019, he started his mandatory military service, after winning a place in the highly competitive ROK Marine Corps. Minho graduated bootcamp top of the class with medal honours, and went on to join the Airborn Marine Corps battalion as a Paratrooper. He was officially discharged on November 15, 2020.
Upon his return, he was cast in the tvN series Yumi's Cells. In December 2021, he released the digital single "Heartbreak". In 2022, he released his first Japanese songs, "Romeo and Juliet" and "Falling Free", and starred in the Netflix series The Fabulous. At the end of the year, he released his debut mini album, CHASE. With this, he became the final SHINee member to release a solo album. In 2023, he appeared in the suspense film New Normal, which was screened at several film festivals. He released the digital single "Stay for a night" in January 2024, and held his first fan concert, 2024 BEST CHOI's MINHO FAN-CON Multi-Chase. He appeared in the JTBC drama series Romance in the House in August 2024[2] and the play Waiting for Waiting for Godot in September 2024.[3] In November 2024, Minho released his first studio album, CALL BACK,[4] and held his first solo concert, MEAN : of my first.[5]
In April 2025, Minho will star in the play Rendez-vous.[6]
